With the spring season in full swing, there is quite a lot to do all throughout the Greater Vancouver and Fraser Valley Region. Sure, at this time of year, the rain may dampen the vibe now and again. But longer days and warmer weather are soon to become the norm! Which springtime activities do you like best? Many of the fun occasions we enjoy, throughout spring, call for the friendly support of a designated driver.
Concerts and festivals.
According to Ticketmaster, there is a concert taking place in Vancouver nearly every day this month. Venues like The Pearl, Commodore Ballroom, Orpheum Theatre and Village Studios will be providing the city with a lot of live entertainment in the weeks and months to come. Don’t forget the many outdoor festivals that will be taking place as well. BC’s largest Earth Day celebration, Party for the Planet, will take place at Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 26th.
These celebrations are well known for their bars, lounges and beer gardens. If the dancing lasts late into the night, chances are it will be accompanied by a few drinks. It’s never a good idea to drive home after a night of partying and consuming alcohol.
Weddings.
Who can forget the fact that when the weather warms up, many lovebirds start walking down the aisle? The spring season is essentially the start of wedding season. These beautiful occasions are known for celebratory champagne toasts, wine with dinner and late-night drinking while on the dance floor.
Remember that even a small amount of alcohol can impair your ability to drive safely and legally. According to ICBC, alcohol is involved in about 21 percent of fatal car crashes in BC each year. “That means every year in BC, 63 people die in crashes involving impaired driving,” reports their website.
Brewery crawls.
Craft beer lovers know that spring is prime time for brewery hopping. Port Moody’s “Brewers Row” is just one of the local hotspots. “Known locally as Brewers Row, this group of breweries along one street in Port Moody offer diverse experiences and tastes,” explains The BC Ale Trail, “It will only take you five minutes to stroll Brewers Row from end to end, but of course, you’ll want to stop at each of the breweries along the way.”
Brewery crawls are fun, of course. However, that’s only if someone sober is driving everyone home!
Wine tours.
There are numerous wine tours all throughout the Fraser Valley Region during the spring. You can choose from Chaberton Estate in Langley, Singletree Winery in Abbotsford and so many more. Fraser Valley wine tours are offered by such companies as Canadian Craft Tours, Vine & Hops and Beyond Bubbles Tours.
In some cases, these companies can pick you up from a designated location and drop you back there once the tour is complete. But, if you’ve been tasting wine all day, it’s certainly not wise to drive home from that spot. The MyDDride team can meet you at drop-off point so that we can drive you home in your own car. You’ll enjoy an even greater day of fun, knowing you’ll get home safely at the end of the day.
